Will recipes by Paula Deen give you diabetic issues? I am not sure whether you heard it or not but one of america’s most liked chefs was diagnosed with diabetes 3 years ago and keep it a secret up until a few weeks ago. It came after she allegedly endorsed a deal with Novo Nordisk to sell their diabetes treatment drug called Victoza. For most folks, they would see nothing wrong with this in particular but for someone like me, I see a whole lot wrong with it and I am going to converse about it in this post!
I really think people have loss their honesty and income has become top priority. How else can you explain not giving information about an ailment then waiting to disclose it it when you are able to make some money from it? This lady kept her illness a secret for 3 lengthy years until the right pharmaceutical drug came along for her to promote…just ponder on that for a moment.
Its like saying I uncovered the remedy for cancer but I will wait to disclose it immediately after they give me the right kind of cash. How selfish could that be? But, I desire to analyze this on a even deeper level. Here are my observations from briefly screening her tv show as I surfed through channels to find something really worth seeing on tv:
UnHealthy Dishes – One of the woman’s most viewed tv clips on the internet is one where she positions a hamburger on top of a doughnut and adds a deep fried egg and a few slices of bacon. I saw an episode about this on an adult cartoon I use to watch named the Boondocks. They referred to it as the Luther Sandwich and I thought it was really entertaining until I actually saw it for real on her youtube clip. It is a very unhealthy dish.
Deep frying – Occasionally you want something deep-fried and that is ok but on more than one occasion I have seen her deep fry food items and give them odd names like deep fried stuffing on a stick. She even fried a cheesecake! How the hell do you deep fry a cheesecake? That is something you just shouldn’t do! Now that I think of it most of the recipes by this woman were described as deep fried. And…this woman fries with bad oils like vegetable oil and canola she could at least use coconut oil or palm kernel oils which are more healthy alternatives.
Really loves using butter – Paula just likes to use margarine! While there really is nothing wrong with margarine, you just do not have to use so much of it and I ask myself if it is healthy butter from cows that haven’t been treated with antibiotic drugs and growth hormone? Probably not…so in addition to diabetes you will probably get cancer and other illnesses from recipes from Paula Deen.
Desserts that raise blood sugar – Have you looked at her recipes for desserts? I watched her bake a cake which used tons of processed white sugar which could shoot anyone’s blood sugar through the roof and make their pancreas work way too much. I have seen her do it in a countless number of her recipes for desserts and all I can say is incredible. I am not at all surprised she was clinically diagnosed with diabetes if she ingests any of the things she cooks.
It is my conviction that if you’re diagnosed with a sickness such as diabetes you should be responsible enough to stop advertising the recipes that cause it. Paula Deen continued to prepare the same food on her show without revealing it until an venture came along for her to make money from her misery.
In my humble opinion, she could have exposed her ailment a long time ago and altered her recipes and helped thousands of individuals including other diabetics but so often many people live in fear. The fear of losing cash, fame, or status is often more significant than the responsibility to tell the truth so others can learn from your mistakes. I’m really hoping television networks will wake up and realize that a sizeable segment of the population wants an option to these unhealthy cooking shows. Where’s Oprah Winfrey when you need her? Until they do, many people are going to be subject to dessert recipes cooked by Paula Deen which may give them diabetes and other diseases.
